What is a tier?
A quadrant of the screen is referred to as tier and its size
and order of appearance is set by providing the appropriate
values of its X and Y coordinates and Z-index. The X and Y
coordinates specify the values of the starting and ending
points of the length and width of a tier. The z-index
sets the order of tiers.
-
How do I create tiers?
Option 1: Copy-Paste-Edit
a. Double-click
Signage menu in the Tree View Pane to expand.
b. Double-click
Tier to expand. It contains sample tiers.
c. Right-click any sample
Tier.
d. Click

e. Right-click

f. Right-click the copied tier. Select
Properties.
g. Key in the new values in the properties window. See the figure
below for the sample tier properties window.
•Title: Labels the new tier.
• Upper Left X: Starting point of the horizontal side of a tier.
• Lower Right X: Ending point of the horizontal side of a tier.
The X coordinates define the horizontal side of a tier. There are four X
coordinates in a tier. These are at the upper left-hand corner, upper
right-hand corner, lower left-hand corner and
lower right-hand corner of a tier.
When plotting the coordinates in the layout, only two are used as
reference points: the Upper Left X which is the point where X begins
and the Lower Right X which is the point where X ends. The horizontal
side of the layout is equal to 100.
• Upper Left Y: Starting point of the vertical side of a tier.
• Lower Right Y: Ending point of the vertical side of a tier.
The Y coordinates define the vertical side of a tier. There are four
Y coordinates in a tier. These are at the upper left-hand corner, upper
right-hand corner, lower left-hand corner and lower
right-hand corner of a tier.
When plotting the coordinates in the layout, only two are used as
reference points: the Upper Left Y which is the point where Y
begins and the Lower Right Y which is the point where Y ends.
The vertical side of the layout is equal to 100.
Example:

• Z-Index: sets the order of elements.
The Z-index sets the order of the tiers. A tier with a greater
z-index value is always in front of the other with a lower z-index value.
Example: Below shows that Tier2 is in front of Tier1. This layout
is composed of 2 tiers, Tier1 and Tier2. To put Tier2 in front of the
other, the z-index of Tier2 is set to 1 while the other tier is set to 0.

What is a configuration?
A configuration consists of a layout and playlists assigned to
each tier. The user has the option to reuse the configuration
templates or create their own. This should be appropriate
to the location, occasion and audience where signage is placed.
-
What is a site configuration?
A Site Configuration refers to the digital signage configuration
for a specific location. This has Site Setup and Recent
Configuration. Site Setup contains Network Management,
Current Configuration and Scheduled Update while Recent
Configuration displays a list of all recently played
configurations in that site.
Below shows an example of a Group Name and its Site Configuration:
-
Is it necessary that the layout and playlist must synchronize
in the configuration?
Yes. The number of playlists in the Playlist subfolder must match
to the arrangement and number of tiers in a Layout.
Example: Bay Hotel is the newly-added configuration folder. It contains
the Layout and Playlist subfolders. Layout F from Layout has 3 tiers. Thus
three playlists must be added into the Playlist subfolder to match the
number of tiers found under Layout F. The order of the playlist must
match the sequence of the tier so that the
playlist plays in the correct tier.
